Question
Hi Phillis,
I am in the beginning stages of planning a honeymoon to Arizona.  It will be next December so I figured it would have to be toward the south of Arizona if we wanted to stay warmish.  We are thinking about staying in a B&B.  We are on a tight budget too ($100/night tops!)  Do you have any suggestions?  Things to look for?  I don't want to book a place for a week and get there and have it be crumby.
-Also, someone was telling me that it would be best to NOT book a place but to wait until we got there so we could check a few out.  Does that sound like a good idea?  I'm afraid that they would all be booked up if we did that.
Thanks a lot,
Andrew

Answer
Hello, Sorry I was just informed that my first answer did not arrive.  I think computers sometimes have a mind of their own :)
First, Congratulations on your up coming marriage.  December is a lovely time in southeren Arizona.  If you want to see some light snow on the most beautiful mountains you can take a ride to Sedona, which is north of Phoenix.  You would have to check on the road conditions first.  The contrast between the pure white and the color of the earth is amazing.  However, we are talking southern Ariz, and I assume you were thinking of Tucson or thereabouts.  I do not know any specific B an B's but I stayed in a place that rents out condo's by the week and it was lovely and would be in your range.  From there you can take day trips south, even venturing into Mexico.  I would think reservations are necessary if you are planning on Christmas week.  You might want to call any place you are thinking of and check the availability and the cancellation policy.
Good luck and enjoy yourself.  Hope this helps.
