Arizona/Grand Canyon Railway vs. Verde Canyon Railway
Expert: Judy Hedding - 3/30/2006
QuestionWhich railway experience do you think would provide the most scenic, yet fun trip? My husband and I are first time travelers to Sedona and to the Grand Canyon.
Thanks for your input!
AnswerHello Delphine,
It's not an easy question to answer. The Grand Canyon Railway is more of a comfortable, pleasant, easy way to get to a grand destination--the Grand Canyon. I wouldn't get on it unless I was going to the Grand Canyon.
The Verde Canyon Railway is a several hour long train trip to nowhere; it's just up and back through some very pretty countryside. The point of the trip is not a destination.
Both trips are narrated with descriptions of what you are seeing and the history of the area.
Clearly, if you've never been to the Grand Canyon, that's the place to go. Taking the train is just an added adventure.
I hope that helps!
Regards,
Judy Hedding
