Arizona/What's it like to live in AZ?

Question
I'm looking for any information on AZ from people who live there now or in the recent past.  My family moved from NY and has resided in TN for the last 4 yrs. and have enjoyed our stay, but there are still a few things that lack(in our eyes).
One of our main issues is the public schools here (we have a 1st and 5th grader)and that the job market seems to really be a lot of fluff (for lack of better terminology).  We're looking for a place where our children can grow up, receive a good education (college included), and find gainful employment all in one state.
Any info. on AZ would be appreciated (hail your favorite place to live or anything or send some links to websites).  I have been through AZ a few times when I lived in Southern CA (early 80's) and thought it was beautiful and different.

Thank you,
Rory

Answer
Hello Rory,

"What's it like to live in Arizona?" is a very broad questions and pretty much impossible to answer. We have very large cities and very small cities. We have cities in the hottest desert in the country and we have sities in the White Mountains that are often the cold spot of the nation in the winter.

If you are really talking about Phoenix, then I recommend you visit the Phoenix site (http://phoenix.about.com) and a great help would be to visit the forum (http://phoenix.about.com/mpboards.htm) where there are many people discussing moving to the area and discussing what it is like to live here, where to find the best schools, etc.

I am not familiar with any comprehensive site about cities outside of Phoenix that might suit your needs, but I have a feeling that Phoenix might be what you were thinking of!

I hope this helps,

Arizona
