Question
Hi Rachel,  I know that you shouldn't massage anyone with circulatory disorders; please could you explain why?  Also with nail disease; is it contra-indicted because of the risk of infection?  Thank you for your time and help.

Answer
Dear Dee,

Hello and thank you for taking the time to submit your question to me.  I would like to clarify that I am not a trained or licensed massage therapist. Having said that, I have always advised my clients with circulatory disorders to get a note from their doctor before engaging in massage therapy practices.  A lot of harm can be done by way of dislodging a blood clot or causing more damage.

Regarding the nail disease, that is somewhat of a broad topic.  Are you referring to nail fungus or something else.  Please be more specific so that I can properly respond.

Thank you in advance for your time, I hope that this information has been helpful to you.  Feel free to contact my anytime for questions relating to Aromatherapy, essential oils and herbs.

Be well,

Rachel

Expertise

For the past 15 years I have been working in the field of Complementary Alternative Medicine with a focus on plant based medicines. Through my educational and supply company, eoilco laboratories, llc., I have trained practitioners from every level of western and non-traditional medicine. Currently, I lecture at Miami Dade College, Barry University and the University of Miami. I have been afforded the opportunity of working with medical professionals throughout the United States. I have also developed protocols using plant based medicines; essential oils and herbs. The use of Plant Based Medicines is experiencing a resurgence in many aspects of patient care and preventive medicine as well. My background and degree is in Health Psychology, I realized years ago as a student at FIU that essential oils had powerful and quantifiable affects on the human body. Research is now showing all of this and more. From the classroom to the lab I have found that today's educated consumer no longer distinguishes between good for your body and good for your soul. Driven by over 70 million consumers, health and well-being is a holistic movement that strives for equilibrium between family, work and self. The new wellness is balance. Currently, I am on a mission to change how my city, Miami is being cleaned.
