Answer
Dear Paul,

Greetings, I hope that your wife and daughter are feeling better.  My first choice for sunburn is pure and natural Lavender essential oil.  It does wonders to alleviate painful irritation and will quickly speed up the healing time if used regularly.  Since you will be mixing the Lavender in  water it is safe for your seven year old to use as well.

The best way to apply the Lavender for sunburns is by mixing it with distilled water in a sanitized spray bottle.  Usually about 10 drops per ounce of water will be more than enough, just be sure to shake before using, essential oils are not water soluble.  As an added benefit, keep the mixture refrigerated, the coolness of the liquid  feels really good on sun burnt skin. Use throughout the day as needed and be sure to spray from head to toe before bedtime.   As an added benefit everyone will enjoy restful sleep due to the relaxing and soothing properties that Lavender has to offer.

I hope that you found this information helpful, if I can be of further assistance to you do not hesitate to ask.

Be well,

Rachel

Currently, I lecture at Miami Dade College, Barry University and the University of Miami. I have been afforded the opportunity of working with medical professionals throughout the United States. I have also developed protocols using plant based medicines; essential oils and herbs. The use of Plant Based Medicines is experiencing a resurgence in many aspects of patient care and preventive medicine as well. My background and degree is in Health Psychology, I realized years ago as a student at FIU that essential oils had powerful and quantifiable affects on the human body. Research is now showing all of this and more. From the classroom to the lab I have found that today's educated consumer no longer distinguishes between good for your body and good for your soul. Driven by over 70 million consumers, health and well-being is a holistic movement that strives for equilibrium between family, work and self. The new wellness is balance.
