Question
What do you think is the best blend of essential oils to treat a sunburn for sensitive skin?  I am going to order some and my skin is on the sensitive side to alot of products.  I have a pretty red burn that I got today! :)

Answer
Dear Lindsay,

Greetings from Miami, Florida, my apologies for the delay in responding to you.  I had a pressing family matter to attend to and had limited access to the Internet.  Regarding sunburns and sensitive skin, I would recommend pure and natural Lavender essential oil as a first choice.  Typically, it is best to blend the Lavender with distilled water and create a spray solution for sunburns.  Direct application to the skin would not be recommended in your case.  Be sure to shake before using, and spray liberally as needed.

Another option is green tea, you can create a simple infusion and strain off the herbs.  Pour the remaining liquid  into a sterile spray bottle and spray as usual.  Keep the remainder in the refrigerator to reduce spoilage, the product should last for several days.  An added benefit is that this cool liquid is loaded with medicinal properties and feels great on irritated skin.

If I can be of additional assistance to you please do not hesitate to ask, I would delighted to hear from you.

Be well,

Rachel Markel
