Every problem has a different solution depending on the underlying causes.A simple headache could be caused for a number of different reasons. Tracking down the origins of a problem is the first step. I can then advise on the correct oils to use,how to buy them and the methods with which they can be applied.
I can also recommend other complimentary techniques for self help with many physical and emotional problems.

Experience I have been a qualified aromatherapist for twelve years, working in my own premises as well as mobile visiting. My clients have been varied - ranging from babies to the elderly and sadly, the terminally ill. Whilst many clients simply wish to use aromatherapy to promote a feeling of well being and keep themselves relaxed and healthy - I have had much experience of clients with specific needs. These are just as wide ranging - from skin disorders to back problems on the physical side - to the emotional and spiritual side of things and problems such as coping with grief and bereavement or helping combat anger and stress.
I use a mixture of techniques including reflexology. I believe that aromatherapy is a very simple and natural method of self help that can compliment conventional techniques. I am passionate about passing on safe and sensible advice so that more people feel confident to try aromatherapy for themselves.
Aromatherapy is not always a cure - but it's potency should never be underestimated. It can help, it can be life changing - and it's certainly worth trying
Question i have been suffering from an on of headache for some days and was wondering if there is an oil i could use to sooth it? i am 34 weeks pregnant. and is it safe to use tiger balm?
Answer Hi Natasha, thank you for your question.
With regard to tiger balm - you can only use this in very small amounts I imagine. A tiny bit rubbed on the temple or brow won't hurt you or the baby. However it is a harsh mix usually, and I think you would find the oils I have listed below are more gentle.
At your stage of pregnancy I would certainly try some lavender oil for your headache. A couple of drops rubbed on the temple will cool and soothe a headache and help you relax.
Inhaling oils will also help clear your headache - good oils for the burner are lavender, peppermint and rosemary - using about two drops each in any combination in hot water in a burner will make a very refreshing and head clearing formula. You could also add a couple of drops of any citrus oil to these to make it even more refreshing.
If you want to enjoy oils through bathing or massage then you will need to dilute them in either a vegetable base, such as almond or grapeseed, or in a non perfumed cream. Providing you are healthy - that is no problems with heart or blood pressure - I would recommend a mix of lavender, rose and tangerine.( Two drops each in about 5 - 10mls of carrier oil or cream ) This is heaven.
As you near your 40 weeks and during your delivery a mix of lavender and clary sage will help kill pain and relax you. Clary sage is the most wonderful oil for the reproductive system, both for the spine and after the birth, for giving the reproductive system a really good tonic.
Again two drops of each in 5-10ml of carrier, and used as a back rub. After the birth used a tummy rub as well. If you want to tummy rub you could purchase some starflower oil to use as a carrier oil. This helps guard against stretch marks.
I hope your birth goes well and wish you and your baby a safe and happy delivery.
