Aromatherapy/Mastectomy Nerve Damage

Question
Cara,

A friend of mine had a total mastectomy and hysterectomy due to dual cancer diagnoses. She had these procedures weeks ago and the mastectomy pain is still 8-10 (0-10 scale). The doctors informed her that she is experiencing rare nerve damage and there is little they can do.  I suggested  to her to try Butterfly Express Paine and Lavender. Do you have any suggestions for the repair of nerve endings and pain? She will be going through a few rounds of chemotherapy so any suggestions for healing and energy would be great! Thank you!

Answer
Katherine,
Oh your poor friend, that is so sad.  From the research I have done I believe your friends condition would be considered Neuralgia which is pain from a damaged nerve.  The best oils for this would be Paine (blend), peppermint, birch or wintergreen which are all anti-inflammatory and wonderful pain fighters.  They not only help to fight pain, but they will bring increased bloodflow to the applied are which will aid in the healing process.  Other oils she can try if she doesn't get relief from one of those would be Roman Chamomile, Marjoram, helichrysum, nutmeg, tea tree, and rosemary.  She would take the oil of her choice and mix it with a carrier oil and rub on location or prepare a cold compress to the area.

To help restore her body after chemotherapy I would suggest two blends by mybutterflyoils.com  One would be Energy.  Energy contains black pepper, cinnamon, clove, juniper berry, lemongrass, nutmeg, pine, rosemary and thyme. It can be applied to the bottoms of the feet (diluted well it has some spicy oils in it) or diffused into the air.  It will increase circulation, strengthen your adrenal glands, improve your energy levels and mental alertness.  Another oil is a blend called Kadence which contains allspice, cedarwood, sweet orange and ylang ylang.  This is a wonderful smelling oil that is perfect to wear all the time as a perfume.  It improves the uptake of nutrients to the brain and nervous system and can help alleviate exhaustion of the body and mind especially when recovering from deep seated or extended illness.  She can wear it as a perfume, add it to a bath or diffuser or apply it anywhere on the body diluted.

Katherine, I hope that was a help.  Let me know if you have any more questions.
