Question
Some 25 or so years ago I was looking through a friend's notebook of reproduction art postcards he had collected at various galleries throughout Europe- he was a recent university art grad and had travelled extensively as part of his studies. One of the postcards had an especially strong effect on me. In describing it, it was a painting of somewhat surrealist style of a desert road with a far distant vanishing point. In the foreground was a hitch-hiking young woman dressed only in what appeared to be cut-off jeans, with several bent ghost-like shadowy dark figures over a caldron to the other side of her.

Are you familiar with this painting, it's title and artist? Is it even considered fine art, or otherwise out of place in such a collection?

Answer
Greetings Bill!

Sadly, I cannot identify the painting based on the description; however, I suggest flipping through a comprehensive collection of works by Salvador Dali . . . the only surrealist I can think of capable of such an image of disjunction.

Best wishes, sincerely,
