Art History/Is Alfons Roman is listed in the Benezit?

Question
Hi.

I have an entire collection of oil paintings done around 1900 in Brussels, Belguim, from my great grandfather, Alfons Roman.  My grandfather had told my father that he is listed in the Benezit, and supposedly had a painting that was in a museum in Antwerp.  I have tried to find a copy of the Benezit from my local libraries but they don't have one.

Would you be able to tell me if this is so?

Thank you very much, Julia

Answer
Greetings Julia,

The current edition of Benezit's Dictionnaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs et Graveurs costs about $800.

I do not own a personal copy and, sadly, based upon where I currently live (a rural area) and where I work (an agricultural/engineering university), a copy for perusal is not readily available.

Best wishes, sincerely,
J Heuman
