Question
Hi, can you give me your opinion based on my thesis?

How does the depiction of the human body from ancient art to modern day art reflect one another?

My thesis is based on political, social reasonings, but I would like an expert to just give me their opinions compared to mine.

My conclusion was:With so many ethnicities, we too, have many depictions of the human body in our cultures. The human form was derived based on how each culture viewed the human body to be; whether it’s based on the political status, authority, or social status back in Ancient times to modern day life.

What do you think, Can you help me?

Answer
Hello Janine - and thanks for your question.  I apologise for the delay in replying.  You don't say what you are writing this thesis for -- which discipline - nor at what level (High School, College, post grad etc.???)  As an art historian, I would find your thesis of interest - especially if you related your findings to illustrative images to demonstrate the social, historical, political contexts.  Clearly, all depictions of the human form have a message -- the most basic being that it is recognisable (instantly! - by other human beings!!) - but, as you say, each culture imbues its image-making with so many resonances - that often need unpacking to make sense of them!  Consider what is achievable within your word count - and Go For It!  Sounds good to me.  Good luck, Jeni
