Question
I wrote earlier today regarding a "print" from EWGustin&Co.  Your answer really helped. thank you.. sent me searching.  The painter Tojellz (I misread the signature) was actually:
V. Tojetti  1849 - 1901
Virgilio Tojetti was born in Rome, Italy on March 15, 1849, the son of Domenico Tojetti. Virgilio was a pupil of his father and later studied in Paris with Gérôme and Bouguereau. He was a resident of San Francisco from 1871 until about 1883 when he moved to New York City. He became popular in the East as a painter of genre scenes and frescoes. Tojetti died of Bright's disease in New York City on March 26, 1901. Exhibited: National Academy of Design, 1883; Mechanics' Institute (San Francisco), 1888. Works held: M. H. de Young Museum. Murals: Savoy Hotel and Hoffman House (New York City).

It appears EWGustin must have created prints of his work.  The one I have must be from that time.  Interesting.

Answer
Well done, you!  It's always a great thrill when one is able to piece together a puzzle .. what a lot you've learned about 'your' artist and his life.  Perhaps, now,  you'll be looking at 'pompier' and early Realist art in France to extend your interest in the kind of paintings Tojetti created (I still haven't heard of him, but Gerome and Bougereau are VERY WELL KNOWN indeed!)

Thanks for letting me know about your success.

Cheers
Jeni
