Question
I recently purchase a Painting of French Artist Georges Gerbier, I had been trying to get some more information about this Artist. all I can come up with in the Internet is that 7-8 of his painting had been sold in the auction house, but I still not be able to get more information about this Artist. All I know that Georges Gerbier (1906-1983) is a listed 20th century French Painter. can you provide more information about him, and his work.
Thanks
Francois

Answer
Hello Francois, and thank you for your question.  Unfortunately, I am not able to help you.  I have never heard of this artist and, like you, my search for him reveals only the auctioned works,  Perhaps you could go back to the vendor and ask for a provenance .. or take your painting to a local fine art dealer who might have more information.  M. Gerbier is (not yet) a famous artist .. but who knows for the future?  You may have your hands on a valuable artwork .. but that's mere speculation. Quite often artists achieve more acclaim after death and it's only been 20 years or so since M. Gerbier's demise.  Until his star reaches its zenith, do enjoy your painting - I am sorry I could not offer more assistance in identification.
