Art History/Careers in Art History

Question
Hello!  First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read and respond to my question!  I am a recent graduate of San Diego State University.  I majored in Humanities, minored in French, and graduated summa cum laude. I am interested in pursuing a career relating to art history and am also interested in continuing language studies.  I do not particularly want to teach, but I would like to work abroad.  I have, unfortunately, had little success in "career searching."  Perhaps you might be able to give me a little insight or direct me to a reference that might be of some help?  I do plan on attending graduate school, but I would like to have a more specific career goal before I take that step.
I have considered attending the Sotheby Institute in London to study Business of Art, but I am hesitant because all of their courses are business courses (no art!).  I am interested in perhaps doing art research, and would like to move to Italy.  I am open to a wide range of opportunities, but I am at a loss of where to look!
Would you be kind enough to help?  Thank you so much!  :)

Answer
Greetings Paulina,

I would gladly provide my perspective, but your question eludes me.  So, a few questions to assist with focus:

(1) Do you wish to know my take on careers in art history, as the message title implies?  (If so, I can and will.)

(2) Do you wish my opinion of postgraduate educational programs abroad?  (Some I can offer an informed opinion; some I cannot.)

(3) Do you wish to know more about working abroad?  (Sadly, I am not knowledgeable about employment legislation and requirements of foreign countries.)

Please clarify, and I promise a more satisfying reply.

Best wishes, sincerely,
J Heuman
