Question
I have acquired a Chinese wine pot made of copper, dating from 1136 A.D., Song Dynasty, with a patriarchal hormunculus perched on the rim. Do you have any idea of the history of this item, its point of origin or its value? Any sugestions how to research these questions?

Answer
If it really is the Sung Dynasty, then it is fabulously valuable.  Check with the National Palace Museum and the National Museum of History in Taipei, Taiwan (I know the Palace Museum has a website).

Look at what you can see of their collections online and then send an email to anyone you can contact from each place.

I don't know what you mean by "a patriarchal hormunculus"
