What is the black dot in the painting "The Assumption of the Virgin " by Correggio
c.1525?

Hi Rita,
At first I wasnt sure what you were talking about, then I looked in a copy of Gardners art through the ages and saw what the problem was. The picture they have in the copy I have here is an older picture. The cieling was falling apart when this was taken so the black dot in the center is the cieling peeling away. It has since been retouched.
