Art History/Finding an Artist

Question
A friend gave me a limited edition print of a painting by a J. Filipchuk , It is 182/750 with no title but depicts four wolves on a snowy plain howling.  I am wondering if this artist may be known by another name.  After hours of searches nothing has come up and I was referred to your website by someone.  Thank you in advance of any help you can give.

Answer
Hello Dana - and thanks for your question (I apologise for the delay in replying - I ahve been out of town with no access to a computer.)

Your question is impossible to answer!  Needle and haystack come to mind as the nearest analogy for your question.  Filipchuk is unknown to me (and to art history at this time - but who knows what may happen in the future) so there is nothing written about him/her to even begin the search.  You obviously have a limited print (the 182nd out of a run of 750) - and it could very well be that your vulpine artist paints under a different name, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start!  Enjoy your print ... if you need a valuation, take it to a local fine art dealer who might, at least, have some information on your artist.  Sorry I can't help.
