Question
I have tried to find some information on a very large (4 feet long by 2 1/2 feet tall) painting I recently purchased but have had no luck.  The painting is landscape category maybe, it's in the forest and has a very large stream with trees all around, the colors are fall (Trees are orange, yellow and brown in color) and there is a signature at the bottom that reads G Norton or G Worton the first letter in the last name is written funny but either way I can't seem to find any info, I'd really like to know when it was painted.

Answer
Hello Gillian - and thank you for your question.  There's not really enough information here for me to help you.  There are countless landscape artists who work in large formats and whos signature may appear 'funny' (I presume you mean it's hard to read) -- it may help you to find out the location of the scene depicted.  With a little detective work (and that knowledge) you might be able to find out more about the artist - but unless you can find something similar to 'your' painting, the task is somewhat reminiscent of looking for a needle in a haystack.  Perhaps the vendor of the painting can help?  Good luck -- and I am sorry I cannot be of more help.
