Question
What languages did Leonardo da Vinci know?  Also can you recomend a good biography?

Thank you

Answer
Dear Tzeitel
I belive that Da Vinci only ever spoke Italian, his native tongue.

As for biographies, there are a few good reads out there:

- Leonardo Da Vinci: Flights of the Mind, Charles Nicholl

- Leonardo: The Artist and the Man, Serge Bramly

- Leonardo Da Vinci, Frank Zollner, Johannes Nathan

My personal favourite is Flights of the mind, a thrilling and encompassing book!
Calum.
