Question
Were the Chagall windows in Jerusalem originally installed upside down?

Answer
Greetings Steve!

To the best of my knowledge -- based on my visit to the Hasassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem, research over many years, and a visit to the Chagall Museum in Cimiez, France (just north of Nice) -- I've heard no such rumor.

The windows have round tops and square bottoms.  And the openings in which they fit have similar round tops and squared bottoms.  (For pictures, visit www.hadassah.org.il and type "Chagall" in the upper right.)

I fail to see how they could have been installed upside-down.

Best wishes, sincerely,
