Question
I have an older painting with pechaubes signature in brush on lower left corner. It is a painting of a fox hunt I believe, if nessecary I could take a picture of the print and send it to you, and i have researched it on the net but unable to find its likeness anywhere, i have located few of his prints and mostly to do with horse-racing. Could you help me any what so ever, thanks so much...  ~ Tracy

Answer
Hello Tracey - and thank you for your question.

An 'All Experts' colleague was asked a similar question and offered this reponse:  "Well, Eugene Pechaubes painted many images of horses and military subjects, such as "Hussard" and "II' Empire Garde Imperiale Officer de Dragons". I have enclosed a list of some of his better known works so that you may research them to your heart's content.
-"Hussard", Oil on canvas
-"Hussard with Horn", Oil on canvas
-"II' Empire Garde Imperiale Officer de Dragons", black print hand watercolored
-"II' Empire Garde Imperiale Trompette 'des Guides", black print hand watercolored
-"II' Empire Garde Imperiale Trompette 'des Cent Garde", black print hand watercolored
-"1st Empire Officicier de Cuirassiers", black print hand watercolored
-"Horse Race", Pencile and watercolor
-"Horses Portrait", black print hand watercolored
I would advise you to take it to you an art dealer, preferably one specialising in paintings of that era. "

Since I do not know of this particular artist, I (too) have searched the internet and found quite a number of sites dealing with reproductions (and auctions/valuations) of Pechaubes' work.  I recommend you type in the artist's name in a search engine and follow the leads.
There is always a market for equestrian scenes (and, perhaps if you live in the UK,  a nostalgia for the now-outlawed, fox hunting (scenes) - so if you are looking to sell your picture, a dealer will be the best best.
Your question is really more about identification than art history - so I am sorry I could not help you more.
Cheers.
