QuestionCan you recommend the best book on Naum Gabo to buy for someone who wants a fairly comprehensive, quality photographic record of his sculptural works? I am particularly interested in his Linear Constructions, so it is important that these be represented in any recommendation you offer. The book must not cost more than $150. Thank you for your reply, in which I encourage you to digress wildly at a whim, express your outrage and your joy,if you like, after you suggest a good gabo book.
AnswerI am afraid to inform of this sad fact, but there are no good books on Naum Gabo! I have wasted many a good hour, reading such books(recommended by 'friends')! I too appreciate his Linear Constructions, unlike the author's, who completley ignored much of his best work.
Such books were rather cheap - a reflection on the shoddy workmanship and research put in. The sad truth is John, that very few people, unlike your good self truly appreciate good constructions!
I am sorry to inform that there are currently(to my knowledge) no good Naum Gabo reads to be found on the open market. I cam only recommend such a book if you or a friend suffers from narcolepsy, as any books on Gabo are sure to do the trick!
