AboutFrank Leeding Expertise I can (possibly) answer questions regarding art history, technique, theory, and the occasional quandry.
In addition to drawing and painting (mainly with acrylics these days),
i know a bit about printmaking: Intaglio (etching), relief, offset,
transfer and some things about photography. I also use a welding torch
to "draw" in metal and then pound the sheets flat and print them.
I pretty much "live" in 2D (and much 4D (time); but, 3D is just sort of
"thick" version of 2D to me;)
Experience As an artist I [sic] have shown my art work in both open and juried shows. I have an extensive background in both studio and cultural studies in art and related areas. I currently hold bachelors and master degrees in art and technology.
In addition, I write extensively on "art theory". And I'm fairly good at mixing paint.

Question Hi, my brother has to do a report on an invention or achievement that was invented in central america between 1980 and 1989. I was wondering if you could help me with that. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I wish i had some experience in this area (i could
detail some artists and their works, musicians, and
that sort of thing) but prob not what you're looking
for.
I'll keep looking for stuff.
The strategy here is to go country-by-country
and try to find an almanac for them.
Also, the united nations may have stuff on this
as well.
It's even possible to find (at the library or
on-line) almanacs for those years and then
search for "this year's inventions" or
something like that.
Another key might be to look for Nobel prize
winners and see if any of them are from that
country.
Since this is a bit "in the past" - how time
flies in the new century, it might be a bit
difficult to locate.
As a last resort, you could check various
journals (publications) for those years.
This is an arduous and time-consuming task
and might best be taken up at a college
library with the help of the librarian
- esp if they have a reference librarian.
You can of course check your local library,
but chances are they aren't hooked into
the on-line databases (for which there are
usually pretty hefty charges).
Also, google things like:
"science and invention" "almanac" "1980"
(going year by year will best since you're
going to get a lot of stuff as it is).
Anyway, that's the best i can say for now.
If you need more help, please feel free to
follow up.
I'll try to run some of these searches
by the end of the week (Friday: May 30)
and get back to you on anything i find.
