Question
Hello I recently came across a piece by artist Luigi Lucioni that has a watercolor look to it. It has a copyright date of 1938 and shows a red farm barn down a land with giant trees on the side of the lane. In the bottom right hand corner it has AAA and the signature and date are in the left hand corner. It looks so much like a watercolor that it is amazing! Very nicely done and is framed in a vintage frame that has a gold tone to it and measures 30.5"x24.5" and has a single matting that is yellowed with age. The frame has some scratches, otherwise great vintage condition.
Is this a print or a water color

Answer
Without seeing it it is very difficult to tell but from what you are describing it sounds like a print.  You can easily tell by removing from the frame.  Water colours will have the usual marks from the artist on the back such as smears of paint and maybe a half-completed work if you are lucky.  prints will be perfectly clean except for dust or discolouration due to age.

Expertise

As a conservator my focus is on the preservation/care of art objects as opposed to their value. I may assist in the identification of materials used in art making and some of the techniques in traditional art production. Please do not ask me about non-traditional medias such as computer software used to create "modern art". My three areas of specialty are: -European painting and sculpture (1600-1800) -The artifacts and documents of United Empire Loyalist (1770-1850) -Classic Fishing tackle (1850-1960) anything outside these areas may receive vague answers that merely point you in a fruitful direction.

I am a practising conservator and curator
