QUESTION: Dear Sir
I am a student of BE 3rd Year in Comp.Sci. Now I have top opt for an elective subject among the followings subjects.
Advance Database
Advanced Database Systems
Artificial Intelligence
Image Processing
Multimedia Systems

Please suggest one which has high job opportunity and income
and also scope for further studies.
I come from a lower middle class family though earning is first option want to enjoy creative working too.

ANSWER: Hi Pinak,

i should first tell you that we probably live in different countries, where the IT market has different needs. Thus, keep that in mind and take this with a grain of salt. I believe that the best choice, as far as income is concerned, is Database Admins (again, this would be on average. You can find a job in all those fields earning more). However, DBs are not of my taste, so its up to you.Further studies are probably limited (although research is actively being done in DBs), but i thing a different topic would have greater research potential.

I suppose that AI might be best for you. However, you must take into consideration that corporations are hesitant to do R&D, unless they gonna gain much.R&D is an expensive activity and either very big corps. do it or SMEs. I think you must decide what you want to do. Do you want to do research? Then, AI or Image processing is probably best. Do you want to make money? Again, DBs might be the best choice for that. You want something in the middle? Programming is my best bet, although AI could come in very handy.In the end, its up to you.
