Dear :George Moustris

we are students and we will graduate this year from our college SCC programming dept. and our graduation project is ONLINE FACE RECOGNITION SYSTEM .now we ask you if it is possible to do this project .if it is possible we hope to tell us how can we capture the face by webcam? and how
we can compare the pictures by using neural networks and Artificial inteligance?.

Face recognition is a rather difficult task. I'm not sure it would be a proper graduation project as it might be too much to handle. I'd suggest something more easy, but then again it's your choice.
I can't tell you much about the technical details on face recognition as i haven't been involved with it much. If you choose to use ANNs, you'll have to do it using some rather standard pattern recognition techniques used in visual processing. Typically, this would include breaking up the image in smaller parts, or extracting some mathematical properties and quantities from the image. This must be done using feature extraction from facial points (like detecting where the nose,eyes,mouth etc are in the image). You must compensate for the different poses a face might take (like a rotation, luminance, shading etc).
Overall, it is a quite complicated task and needs strong knowledge of digital image processing, pattern recognition, ANNs, signal processing and a lot of mathematics.
If you are really interested in pursuing this project, i strongly suggest you search for available papers and bibliography on the subject. You have a lot of reading to do.

Well Waddah, i need to know more about the projects in general in your school. How long does it last? What's your scientific background (your stong subjects). What is expected of you from this project, etc.



.......well dear George Moustris:projects in our college it is not so difficult as online face recognition.it is like E_goverment(ministry of culture and tourist),E_rersults,E_doctor,E_voting and acceptance in univercities.in our college we studied programming languages such as Pascal,c,c++,vb,vc++,oracle and java but we did not go deeply in this subjects.and in this semester we study some of Artificilal inteligence(Theory).we doesnot have knowledge in neural networks.but by self study we find it some difficult to learn neural networks...

now we still have 70 dsys to submit the graduation project.so dear George Moustris we need your help to give me your suggestion as you tell .any  new and good idea of graduation project..thanks alot for your rerpling my messages..

Well now, i see that you are software related so i suggest you skip difficult AI projects. An e-booking system is a nice idea for a project. Develop a system that monitors tickets, availability and events in real-time. A user could buy a ticket online, see the vacancies etc. Another interesting project would be data mining. How to find accurate and fast information on the web. This might get out of hand since data mining is a field on its own, but fairly simple projects might do the trick. An online surveylance system is another good idea. Develop a system that relays information of the alarm system of your house (or some other property) to the web so as to be able to monitor your house 24/7.
Well, i think you get the general idea. Discuss this with your group and i'm sure you'll come up with a nice project.
