Question
Five years ago I bought a Mandarin composition doll (boy)at a thrift shop. It's about six inches tall, highly glazed, cuttest little face fine painted brows with indented pupil eyes having a white dot in the center. Glued human black hair-braids. Pink Gold Mandarin Costome with a beaded hat. The head, arms and legs are held with rubberband.  I would like to know who's the maker.  I can't find any marking. Thank youl

Answer
Margarita,
Can you get any Digital pictures of the doll?

The chances are good that this is just a souvenir dolls made over either a cork, papier mache, or sawdust clay and probabaly with a true gofun covering.

These dolls were popular for tourists and visitors to the thetre district from 1897 to 1963.

If you could send pictures it would help alot in me trying to identify it if I can. Send them to my E-Mail if possible.

Approximate worth: $25-100.00 depending on condition.
