Arts/Crafts Business - handcrafted jewelry storefront business

Expert: Shasta McLaughlin - 11/29/2008

Question
Would you happen to know the demographics for those who purchase handcrafted jewelry from retail stores (small business) and why people buy handmade jewelry.  I make crystal handcrafted jewelry and I am researching the market so please answer if you can be of any help!  Thank you so much.

Answer
I get asked this question often so I created a post on my Blog to answer it.

Unfortunately finding demographics for particular groups of people costs hundreds to thousands of dollars.  However businesses armed with this information will do far better than those without it.

The one thing I would suggest is keep your eyes out for magazines that serve people who would buy your product or people who make your product.  Contact them and ask the demographics of the people who receive their magazine.  Be sure and ask them if they are the buyers of jewelry, sellers or both.

Good luck,

Shasta
