Question
My sister and I were thinking about doing craft shows, but we were curious if we would need a permit for that. Do you have any idea where I can find information about this?

Answer
Jacky,

I get asked about business licenses and permits often so I wrote a post on my blog about them.  You can view the answer at http://extravaganzacrafts.com/Blogs/2008/10/license-requirements-for-art-and-cra...

Basically every city, county and state has different requirements for business licenses and permits so you have to start at your city offices and hopefully they will have a number for your county and state offices.

Other things to consider are registering your business with your state as DBA (doing business as), getting a business license for buying wholesale, getting a business checkbook, insurance etc.

Insurance depends on your needs and should be discussed with your insurance agent who can help you find the proper company, agent, and policy to fit your needs.

Please let me know if you need more information on getting started.

Good luck,
