Arts/Crafts Business/consignment

Question
I am beginning to sell my handmade jewelry and accessories. My goal is to start with craft shows and perhaps consignment at some local gift shops if I can interest them.  What is a fair percentage to offer for selling my beaded jewelry?  Do you know of any resource material regarding consignment--particularly pitfalls I may not think of!  Also could you give me a general idea of markup for pricing.  I can estimate the material cost on each piece.  Then what?

I have articles describing consignment selling and pricing linked to from www.craftmarketer.com Also, there are some more free articles which you can access from there.

In general, it is the store that sets the consignment percentage so all you can do is say yes or no to their rate. After you read the article on pricing, you'll be able to tell whether it will be profitable to sell wholesale.

Hope this helps,
James
