Arts/Crafts for Kids/Fabric Painting

Question
Our school would like to paint large banners using fabric paints or felts.  A group of  children are going to each design a panel (approx. 40cm x 40 cm).  What type of paint/felts would you recommend using on fabric and would you recommend the children painting it or just designing it in pencil and having an adult painting it.  We've never done this before and I can't find any information on this topic.  Much appreciated.

Answer
I'm sorry, this is outside my expertise and experience.
However, I've used Fabric Crayons on paper, and ironed them on fabric with great success. Remember that anything you want in print must be done backwards to have it reverse when it is ironed on. I think if you go to Michael's or some craft store, they can recommend the best fabric paint for your project. I'd love to hear how it goes. I really don't know anything about fabric paints or felts at this level....just little individual projects.

Best of luck,
