Arts/Crafts for Kids/Easter Baskets

Question
Joyce,
I'm wondering if you have any clever ideas for  making a child's Easter basket.  When I was growing up, my Mom had made some baskets out of old bleach bottles that were very cute, and lasted for many years.  I'd like to make a basket for my child that he can use year after year as well.  Any ideas?
Thanks!
Julie

Answer
HI....AS A MATTER OF FACT WE JUST MADE EASTER BASKETS FOR OUR CLASS OUT OF A 2 LITER SODA BOTTLES...THEY WERE ADORABLE..
FIRST WE CUT AROUND THE TOP AND MADE EARS...(PRACTICE DRAWING THE DESIGN, IT'S KIND OF HARD TO DESCRIBE WITHOUT A PICTURE, SO PRACTICE FIRST) WE USED A HOLE BUNCH AROUND THE EARS AND THEN LACED THEM WITH COLORED YARD. WE DREW A FACE, COTTON BALLS IN THE REAR FOR A TAIL, AND A PINK COTTON BALL FOR THE NOSE...THEY ARE DURABLE AND THEY WERE  CUTE...... FOR A HANDLE WE ATTATCHED HARD WHITE OAK TAG WHICH THE KIDS SPONGED PAINT WITH PASTEL COLORS AND THEN THE CHILDREN THAT COULD WRITE WROTE THEIR NAMES WITH GEL PENS ON THE HANDLES....THEY WERE SO CUTE...FILL THEM WITH COLORED GRASS AND THEY WILL LOOK CUTE.......WE ALSO MADE THE SAME AND FILLED THEM WITH SOIL AND BIRD SEED.BIRD SEED SPROUTS IN A DAY OR TWO....GOOD LUCK I HAVE OTHER IDEAS TOO, SO LET ME KNOE IF YOU WANT THEM...JOYCE H.
