How about a robot.  Take a shoe box, and cover it with aluminum foil- cutting a hole in center/stomach area for cards. Shoe box should be in vertical postion- use small box for head-also covered in foil and toilet paper rolls for arms and tin cans for feet.  You can elaborate more.... very cute.

A couple years ago, I helped my son make a Spongebob Squarepants box.  We bought a sqaure box, yellow skinny foam squares, white pipe cleaner for the nose, and big fake eyes and a piece of white skinny foam for the teeth.  It was a hit!  It used it 2 years in a row and still has it!

we just finished helping my 6 year old son make his box. it turned out great! We covered a shoebox in white paper. Then took a black marker and made a web on top and all sides. Once the web was finished we wrote "valentine, I've got you in my web" with red glitter on top and his name on the front in the red glitter. We got one of those big rubber spiders and glued it on top as well! it really looks cute for a boy's box! he loves it!

I have 3 boys, so we have had to get creative with valentine's boxes as well.  One year, my oldest son & I created a skateboard box that he was so proud of! It was super-easy;  we simply cut a board shape out of poster board, and glued it on top of a shoe box.  We cut a slot in the top, made wheels out of lids, and decorated it boy-style. One end of the box had a trap door to remove the cards at the end of the day.  No hearts or lace or teddy bears for this guy!
