Question
My son wishes to have a mad scientist birthday party.  I would like to know where I can get old white shirts, cheap for 15 children.  The Salvation Army wants $6.00 a shirt.  Open to other suggestions also.  I need some ideas for:  (1)beginning projects, i.e. goop etc. (2) games, activities and or musical movement.  Usually I plan the entire party but this year I am considering having the mad scientist organization come and put on a presentation.  Help I need some ideas....web sites....

Thanks,  Bonnie

Answer
Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for writing.  For white shirts, I would think the salvation army or goodwill would be your best bet. :-(  Pehaps you can ask around and see if anyone you know wants to donate them...  Or check out garage/yard/rummage sales in your area?  ALso, one option might be to have each kid bring their own.

Here is a fun resource I found for a mad scientist birthday party:

Hope this helps!

Expertise

I have extensive experience working with children, and enjoy creating craft projects families can do together. Through the years, I have experimented with many different craft techniques using a variety of supplies. My personal favorite is creating treasures from trash! Why throw away toilet paper rolls or empty coffee cans? I also love all holiday crafts.

Experience

I have been a crafter in one form or another all my life. I have also been a day care provider and an elementary school employee. I am the mother of three. As a day care provider, I created my own curriculum program and craft projects for the kids.

Organizations
I have volunteered in many youth and community organizations including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4H, etc.

Publications
My craft articles and projects have been featured and/or reviewed by many publications such as Access Magazine, USA Weekend, and a few "who's-who on the Internet" books.

Education/Credentials
As an ex-day care provider and elementary school employee, I have taken various classes in child development and guidance. I have also attended many community craft classes for adults.
