Hi Andy!  My fiance and I will be traveling to Aruba for our honeymoon for a week in October this year.  We have planned an all inclusive week at the Occidental Grand with a grand romance room.  Can you tell me how good this hotel is?  Are there any problems with stealing?  Also, do you have any tips for new travelers?  This will be my fiance's first time out of the country and both of our first times to Aruba.  Any advice is appreciated!  Thank you!

Hi Lindsey!!  The Occidental is one of the better facilities on the island, it is clean and well managed, so in that respect, feel confident! Stealing...just use common sense as you do at home. Never leave valuebles in the open, as there are incidents of petty thefts of items left at the beach/pool areas in ALL hotels.For the first timers, you will enjoy one of the island tours from one of the many tour operators on the island. It's a "must see" to go to the other side of the island. Caves, rock formations, and other exciting areas. You will find information on this when you get to the hotel. Also, do not be bothered by reports of rain..as if it does, it goes quickly, and usually comes in the early morning hours. Sun is very strong there...use what sunblock is best for you.
