Aruba/Lobster in the Carribean
Expert: Andy Mendyk - 9/24/2011
QuestionHi! I will be going on a cruise that goes from Florida to Panama, Costa Rica, Aruba, Curacao, and the Bahamas (Half Moon Bay). I've never had lobsters from the Carribean and have heard that they're very different from cold water lobsters. I hear that there are a number of places in the Carribean where they serve lobsters at low prices. Is there any a particularly really good lobster place? Also, I read that there used to be a place in Aruba that had all you can eat lobsters...is this true? How much do lobster meals generally cost?
Thank you!
Thank you!
AnswerHi Sarah! Strange question to answer! Only a few seafood resturaunts in Aruba serve lobster, and they have them shipped in from Maine. I was told by two of them, they do not serve Carribean lobster due to that people do not like the flavor.
There are, and never to my knowledge was an all you can eat lobster establishment.
A popular seafood resturant did close about 4 years ago ( The Waterfront Crabhouse)
Simply Fish offers Rock Lobster tail, and that is the only establishment I found that offers that.
Also, I have never heard of any establishment that serve lobsters at low prices. The average price would be what you would pay in the U.S., and add about 30% more. Lobsters are not cheap anywhere! Shipping costs prohibit any low prices in the southern carribean.
If they have them on board the ship..I would enjoy them there!
Enjoy your voyage!
