Aruba/Aruba vs. Barbados

Question
Hi

My cousins and I are planning a trip and have narrowed our destination to Aruba and Barbados (although other suggestions are still welcome). We are a big group of about 30 which consists of children under the age of 6, married couples, and singles.  The eldest of us is 34 so we are a young group.  We are planning this trip in August of 2007.  I know Aruba is outside the hurricane belt so I am not too concerned about the weather.  Also, I'm not sure if you have been to Barbados but I was hoping for any insight you can provide on which island might be more suited for us.  Another concern I have is that Aruba seems to be more of a desert landscape so I'm not sure if it is a beautiful island.
Thank you

Answer
Hi Mira! Looks like you have done your homework! Yes, Aruba is not much for sight-seeing. It is a popular destination for being a laid-back vacation. Usually quiet , especially in August. ( Which is when I go there) Barbados would have more "green", and I would admit, if I want scenery, I would go there also. What makes Aruba a choice destination is the safety aspect, and the friendliness of its people. There is not too much to worry about when there. They Accept American Dollars, and almost all Arubans speak English.  Looks to me like it may be a coin toss for you, but, if there is anything else I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me again!!
