Question
I would like to stay in aruba for an extended period of time- What customs and laws should I definitely know before I get there so I can act appropriate and not get in trouble.  In addition how hard is it to find work in aruba considering I am an American.  I appreciate it and thanks

Answer
Hi Knish!  First, you must be "sponsored" by an employer. To be employed, you must have a work permit. Best suggestion is to go there and seek employment. The potential employer will start the process. Finding work depends on what they need. Casual labor is filled locally. High Tech jobs are often available. Most work is in the tourism/casino/hotel areas. Make sure you have a valid passport, as by 12/06, you will need one to leave for Aruba, and for entry back to the USA. It is not recommended to stay on the island for more then your declared dates, as Aruba is diligent in tracking down "illegals". Also, even though english is spoken, you will find a barrier employment wise, as spanish and Dutch are the prefered languages.  Good luck, and if there is anything else I can help you with, do not hesitate to contact me again!
