Aruba/honeymoon

Question
Andy- my fiance' and I are honeymooning on Aruba 3/23/02-3/30/02. After having looked at all the chat rooms, web sites (aruba.com, arubabound, etc.), and hotel info, I am torn between Sonesta Beach and Bucuti. My agent here in the States recommends Sonesta- says it's more up-to-date, closer to everything being downtown, and we can get a suite in the Beach Tower for less than a superior room (which may not face the beach) at Bucuti. Bucuti obviously sounds like a more intimate, quieter, secluded hotel/resort. I like the idea of a private beach at Sonesta (like on a cruise I assume), but understand that Bucuti also has one of the best beaches. This is a second marriage for both of us- late '30's- so we're not looking for a wild party every night- but do want to get away, see the island, enjoy the beach during the day and find little out of the way "tiki" bars to listen to island music and watch the sunset, etc. Any advice?

Answer
Hi Bob!!  Tough Question..both places are nice..but i would chose the Sonesta for the following. They do have a private island...cozy..and the shuttle boat ride from the atrium canal is fun also!!  The Sonesta is also located in the downtown area..built right next to a mall..so shopping and food are all a 2 minute walk away, and the Crystal Casino is there if you like to wager and play slots!  I stay at the Sonesta Every August before i go to my timeshare upwards on the island, (my timeshare is a 3 minute walk from the Bucuti) Yes, The Bucuti has one of the best beaches on the island, but thats about it. The Sonesta is modern, and near everything you may want. I always look forward to being there, and I think you will find that out once you get there. It is really a nice place to stay. Plus, its only about a 5 minute ride from the airport! I can go on and on, but if there is anything particular you need to know, do not hesitate to cal on me again!! Also, go to  www.aruba.com   and www.aruba4u.com  and www.sonesta.com (click on "aruba") for more info and possible pics! If I dont hear from you..have a great time!!
