Question
Thank you for answering some of my other questions in other queries.
My questions:
1. We are staying at the La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club--any info?  I exchanged a timeshare week for a week there.
2.  We want to dive and wonder about the Red Sail company--want to feel safe in our diving experience--info?
3.  Would like to have done a day trip to Venezuela--best place for hiking, waterfalls, flight cost?
4.  Don't want to rent a car, but want to get around--you say public transportation, bus, the best bet?

Anything to help us out would be welcomed!

Thank you,
Cyndi

Answer
Hi Cyndi!  First, La Cabana is a huge complex, I do not prefer it myself, and there have been quite a few negative reports lately from bulletin board users and trip reports, but some people like it , some dont. If you have options to stay elsewhere, I would look into that.
Red Sail Sports is a well known recreational operator there. They are reliable, and safe, and have been giving tours and other forms of recreation for many years. You will be safe with them.
Venezuela...heed the State Department warnings for that country. Highly advisable NOT to go there, as there is  a lot of civil unrest, robberies, carjackings, kidnappings and shootings there. I do not even want to recommend an airline/flight to that country to you, as it in definately not safe to go there.
I always use public transportation ( taxi & bus) and found it much less expensive than renting a car. pricewise and responsibility for the vehicle, it makes for less stress. Only rent if you plan on visiting a lot of resturants during your stay, but most likely, using a taxi will still end up being less expensive. If there is anything else I can help you  with, please do not hesitate to contact me again!
