Question

Bamboo
I purchased a bamboo with what I belive is Chinese writting on it.  I'd like to have a translation into English and if there is any significance to its placement in my home, please tell me.  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Kris,

Yes, the inscriptions on the bamboos are in Chinese. Generally speaking, bamboo sticks should be read right-down, before left-down.

Right:
(That your) business may be thriving and that it will spread across the world (in Chinese, we say...spread across the four sea literally).

Left:
(That you will be) prosperous and your wealth will overflowing - enough to fill the Three Gorges (a place in China).

Any businessman would definitely want to display such bamboos in his home. It's not so much of feng shui, but Chinese feel that it's auspicious to have such sayings around.

I hope that helps.

Regards,
Jen
