Question
How many people died during the Indian Independence movement as a result of the Independence movement?

To help frame the question, I'm doing research on Gandhi's non violent protest.  My initial premise is that fewer people die in structured non violent revolutions than violent revolutions (war).  I do realize that there were instances of violence against non violent protesters in the Indian revolution and that there were instances of mob violence by the Indians against the British, but I'm looking for an overall statistic and any relevant sub statistics you may be aware of that would help to answer this question.

Answer
Hi Will,

Nice to know that your are doing research on Indian history but the statistic data you are asking is too difficult to collect. You need to read lots of history books, collect the numbers of people who died in various movements (from 1915-1947)

I am sorry but i cant be help you more in this. if you have any other question, plz do ask.

with best wishes
