i'm currently playing a pc game called empire:total war,right now i'm in india and encountered war elephants.my question is,how best is it possible to defeat them?

War elephants are an imposing sight but not difficult to defeat. Indians lost many a wars because of war elephants.

Stories say that King Porus who confronted Alexander (somewhere around the region of Rawalpindi) was riding a war elephant. A Greek arrow wounded the elephant who turned away leaving Porus' army without leadership. Animals may also be deterred by fire or ditches. One Indian king placed a line of bullock carts to blunt a cavalry charge. Horses also stumble against packed defense and lances rooted in ground. Nothing like a determined infantry assault. :) With best regards,
