Asian Stocks - Hsbc stock

Expert: Paul Ling - 12/12/2006

Question
Hi Paul

What is the main reason for HSBC stock to drop from 120 to 80 and continues to lose money until 2003?

What do you think about HSBC now?   Do you think the American real estate market will continue to produce bad debt for Hsbc?

What do you think about 1398 and 2628 for the long term?

Thanks

Harvey

Answer
FYI,HK market was slump at 2003 , because of SAR ( bird flu)
huge damage with happen, after 2000 IT boom.
HSBC are big ship for global investor, even business in asia and west. In foreseeable future , May fast growth in china (mid land), and further step in US market.
Business are countable, announcements were made so it may avoidable if management can keep their eye on it.
1398- It was benefit form economic growth and it was a bigger share in china commercial bank. In near short , may no one can change their market share, because of business are build on relationship in Asia market. therefor it was not by market competition .
2628- It not surprise, He is a insurance grand father, also benefit for people income growth with social protection shift from government to individual liab.Therefor good sign for long term investor.
