Question
my 2year old rottweiler keeps chewing at her skin, it started with just small patches but now she is chewing out her fur and leaving weeping sores. we have used flea treatments and several skin treatments and she has been wormed, she struggles to put on weight and we have been recommended to try puppy food are her problems likely to be caused by a skin allergy?

Answer
This is very likely an allergy.  But it may be complicated by secondary skin infection, which is why the weepy sores.  There may also be other types of skin parasites, like mange mites. Ask your vet to do allergy testing to see what your dog may be reacting to.
