Question
My alaskan malamute is licking the tops of his paws until they are raw. He doesn't seem to have any other skin irritations on his body. It has become a very bad habit. Any suggestions on creams or a spray. The cone on the head is not a good idea. He wouldn't stand for it and I probably wouldn't find one big enough. thank you.

Answer
When dogs get allergies, they lick their paws.  Often a secondary bacterial or yeast infection ensues between the toes.  SO ask your vet to see if your dog may have allergies.  There are different drugs that can be used including steroids.  Antibiotics and /or antifungal drugs may also be used along with wiping the feet off.
