Clyde was diagnosed with congestive heart failure about 2 years ago.  He takes Lasix and Enalapril once a day and another fluid pill twice a day.  He has been doing well.  Recently, he has been breathing harder and panting more often.  This has gotten worse since the summer weather came in.  He had his yearly exam in February and the vet saw no reason to change anything.  Do you think this is just because it has been hotter and more humid lately?

It seems as though Clyde may be decompensation in his present condition.  The heat may be affecting him, but limit the time he spends outside if the weather is too warm.  

Often in cases of heart failure the heart will reach a certain stage of heart failure.  At that point,  it is necessary to either change the medication or change the dosage of the medicine presently prescribed.  

Consult with your veterinarian to determine if Clyde needs more medicine or different medication.  He/she can help you to keep your pet comfortable.
