Ask the Veterinarian/Mini Schnauzer Shakes and Leans

Question
In the past week my five year old black miniature schnauzer has been leaning to one side, and swaying from side to side.  The symptoms remind me of Parkinson's in a human.  It does not happen all the time, and at most about three times a day.  She has always been a very active, on the go dog, and she seems quieter lately.  The only household changes this week was our master bedroom ceiling being painted, and the spray option was used.  She was not in the room and kept in a separate bedroom with the door closed.
The a/c was turned off during the painting.
Thanks for any response.
Nancy

Answer
Nancy -

You should have your dog evaluated by a veterinarian.  It is possible that she is having seizures, or she may have vestibular disease (disease of the middle ear).   Your vet may recommend bloodwork to evaluate liver and kidney and may request radiographs.
