Question
Hello, I have a yorkie puppy that might have brain damage. He is the runt, but has been a healthy and energetic pup till he was 6 weeks. At 4 weeks he fell of the bed and hurt himself but he was fine after that. At 6 weeks I took him and his sister to the vet for the first set of shots. they got a Dhlpp shot and Strongid-T canine. two days after the shots the puppy got sick. He started just walking in circles and not wanting to eat anymore. We took him to the vet and they say it might be some kind of brain damage and have him on some medication. It has been two weeks and the vet does not know what it is. He just sleeps, wakes up crying and will not eat. We have to feed him by hand. Do you think the shots got him sick? what else can I try to get him better? I really do not want to put him to sleep.

Answer
Sam -

There is the possibility that he might have had a severe vaccine reaction.  Have your veterinarian call the vaccine manufacturer so they can be aware of the possible reaction.

Is he receiving treatment for his symptoms?  Often symptoms developed from vaccine reactions are not permanent; with treatment your pet can often return to normal.
