Ask the Veterinarian/7 yr old cat refusing to eat after illness

Question
My cat just got treated for having a urinary blockage. He is 7 years old, 17 lbs (yes I know excessive) no health problems prior to this.  The vet put him on Bioclav, and has him eating MediCal Dissolution formula for 6 weeks, then he will go on MediCal Preventative.  I have boughten him can and dried food, and he refuses to eat! I could see the first day home not eating, but it's been two days, and he's not eating! I've tried adding some water to the dry, heating it a little, but not too much, putting some on his nose, everything! I'm really afraid I'm going to lose my cat, but I don't know what else to do! We've even tried him on other cat food, including the stuff he was eating before and nothing! He is peeing fine bc I watch him constantly and drinks tons of water, so I don't get it.

You should talk this over with your veterinarian.  Cats should not go long periods without eating.  Anorexia in cats can cause other problems, including liver problems.  Your vet should be able to give you options for increasing his appetite and may even suggest a change in diet.
